A Demolir (Cameroon 2011)
Since 2008, Yaoundé, the political capital of Cameroon, has been in the process of urban redevelopment to improve and modernize the city. As a result of this process, the Communauté Urbaine of Yaoundé (CUY) has destroyed entire neighborhoods and evicted thousands of citizens from the city0s suburbs. More than 18.000 residents from areas such as Etetak, Ntaba, Briquetterie, Messa or Mokolo among others, have lost their homes and/or businesses and the social networks of these places have disappeared. The hidden economic and speculative interests in these urban changes have prevented the vast majority of those affected to receive any help or economical
compensation. (Yaoundé, Cameroon, 2011)
